Jimmy Xie is an interdisciplinary artist and curator based in Orange County, California. Xie's own art practice focuses on video, performance, and installation. His work explores and tackles issues of identity including gender, sexuality, nationality, race, ethnicity, social class, language, belongingness, etc. 

Xie was born into a multicultural family in Beijing, China, with a Korean background on his mother's side, and a Taiwanese background on his father's side. He went to a private Italian boarding school from K-6, and spent a year in a public Chinese school for 7th grade. Traveling in search of meaning, he then attended school in South Dakota for 8th & 9th grades, Wisconsin for 10th grade, and Washington state for 11th & 12th grades. Xie continued to his college education at Chapman University in Orange, California, obtaining a Bachelors of Arts in Sociology, with minors in Studio Art & Leadership Studies. Currently, he is pursuing a Masters of Arts in Leadership Development back at Chapman University.

During his journey, Xie had the honor of living with families across the nation from all walks of life: Lutheran, Catholic, Mormon, Caucasian, African-American, Hispanic, etc. These valuable experiences made Xie who he is today, enabling him to further explore the infinite collection of possibilities in life.
